چکیده

Contextual equivalence equate terms that have the same observable behaviour in any context. A standard contextual equivalence for CCS is the strong barbed congruence. Configuration structures are a denotational semantics for processes in which one define equivalences that are more discriminating, i.e. that distinguish the denotation of terms equated by barbed congruence. Hereditary history preserving bisimulation (HHPB) is such a relation. We define a strong backand-forth barbed congruence on RCCS, a reversible variant of CCS. We show that the relation induced by the back-and-forth congruence on configuration structures is equivalent to HHPB, thus providing a contextual characterization of HHPB.

Equivalences in Bicategories

In this paper, we establish some connections between the concept of an equivalence of categories and that of an equivalence in a bicategory. Its main result builds upon the observation that two closely related concepts, which could both play the role of an equivalence in a bicategory, turn out not to coincide. Two counterexamples are provided for that goal, and detailed proofs are given. In par...

The Influence of Durational Actions on Time Equivalences

The hierarchy of untimed equivalences is well understood for action-based systems. This is not the case for timed systems, where it is, for example, possible to detect concurrency by single timed action execution. To clarify the connection between equivalences in timed systems, a timed version of configuration structures is introduced together with timed equivalence notions adapted from untimed...

Contextual Equivalence for the Pi-Calculus that can Stop

The pi-calculus is a well-analyzed model for mobile processes and mobile computations. While a lot of other process and lambda calculi that are core languages of higher-order concurrent and/or functional programming languages use a contextual semantics observing the termination behavior of programs in all program contexts, traditional program equivalences in the pi-calculus are bisimulations an...

DISCRETE SIZE AND DISCRETE-CONTINUOUS CONFIGURATION OPTIMIZATION METHODS FOR TRUSS STRUCTURES USING THE HARMONY SEARCH ALGORITHM

Many methods have been developed for structural size and configuration optimization in which cross-sectional areas are usually assumed to be continuous. In most practical structural engineering design problems, however, the design variables are discrete. This paper proposes two efficient structural optimization methods based on the harmony search (HS) heuristic algorithm that treat both discret...
